I wasn’t the kind of girl who knew much about Allah Ta’ala, and I didn’t have strong trust in Him before. As I grew up, especially during my university years, my faith was truly tested. One incident, in particular, stood out to me.
A Little Story which tested my patience and trust in Allah
I had applied for a job and, to my surprise, all the rounds went exceptionally well. The interviewers seemed impressed, and I was confident I would get the offer. I even started imagining what my life would look like after securing that job. But when I received the email stating I wasn’t selected, I felt disappointed. I couldn’t understand it. Why would Allah Ta’ala allow everything to go so smoothly if I wasn’t meant to get the job in the first place?
This rejection shook my trust in Allah. I questioned Him repeatedly, asking, “**Why me?” and “**Why did You give me this opportunity if it wasn’t meant for me?”
With whom I shared my feelings ?
Well, my Mamma is my best friend. So, I shared all of my feelings with my mother and sisters, they gave me the same advice: “Trust in Allah’s timing. Never question why something didn’t happen. Instead, thank Allah for the blessings He has already given you.”
Did I follow my mother’s advice instantly ?
Their words made sense, but they weren’t easy to follow at first. Even after hearing this advice, I found myself struggling with the same doubts again and again. However, over time, I started reflecting on my life and realized that every rejection or closed door had eventually led to something better. Slowly but surely, I learned to trust Allah completely. My mindset shifted from “Why is Allah testing me?” to “**That wasn’t good for me, and Allah knows best.”
As it’s also mentioned in the Quran:
"And put your trust in Allah, and sufficient is Allah as a Trustee (Disposer of Affairs)". (Surah Al-Ahzab, 33:3)
What to do if you’re someone who’s facing the same issues as I did
If you’re struggling with similar doubts or questioning why certain things aren’t working out, here’s what helped me build trust in Allah:
Trust Allah Ta’ala blindly – Avoid asking, “Why is this happening to me?” Trust that He knows what’s best for you, even when it doesn’t make sense in the moment.
Be thankful for what He has given you – Gratitude opens your heart to contentment and invites more blessings into your life.
Believe in Allah’s timing – Don’t rush the process. Trust that His plan will unfold at the perfect time, and when it does, you’ll realize it was worth the wait.
Accept that what isn’t given wasn’t good for you – Some things you desperately want might not be good for you. Trust that Allah’s wisdom will guide you to something far better.
Pray regularly – Perform your five daily prayers, and include Tahajjud (A special prayer which the Muslims perform in the midnight) in your routine. It’s during these quiet moments with Allah that you’ll find clarity and peace.
Recite Quran on daily basis - Make it a habit of reciting Quran daily for 10 minutes in the starting and increase the duration over time.
Conclusion
If next time, you face these types of issues again in your life then, remember:
Start today by thanking Allah for the blessings in your life, and watch how your faith grows stronger.
